Thank you for commenting, Elle! My theory is that most disabled people have similar medical trauma, unfortunately. My husband is extremely non-confrontational (especially with other Japanese people bc of the culture), so I'll have to teach him to be a little more vocal on my behalf (and hopefully get better at voicing my concerns myself)! 😅
