I guess it depends on who you think of when you say “As a user”. Personally, I see my Mum, whose technical expertise was far less than mine but who did work for many years as a secretary and then a school administrator. She struggled daily with poorly thought out financial systems within Local Government and never complained — she just talked to the nice man in technical support who — after being plied with cups of tea — would patiently explain what to do. I guess that’s why I don’t think I need Maude (though I’m sure she’s lovely) — perhaps the issue isn’t with the words but with a lack of empathy?
