“Whence, then, this strange joy?”
After reading and rereading this paragraph for the thousandth time, I tried to draw a picture in my mind, which I’ll do my best to depict.
It’s been 3years since this family’s last gathering, so there probably happen to be some kind of awkwardness between them at first it’s common. It is usually like that when you see a person you have not seen for a thousand years, You neither know what have happened, nor what is going on.. So you both need time to figure out what to start with, but once you get more or less comfortable with him or her,you know you are on the same page …awkwardness slowly disappear.
It doesn’t work with everybody, but family is different.
You All have the same ancestors. Even if you live far from each over, you are of different age, different social status etc, you are united anyway. You have the same background.
So once you get comfortable you start talking about everything, you star sharing , recalling all the memories, all the funny and sad stories. And this is the best part. You are surrounded by so many different people, but so many caring people at the same time. They are not just passers by, they are your family,no matter what they are, you accept them all. And you respect and cherish this moment, this tradition, this rare case of joy.
