How you can help Hurricane Harvey survivors
Donation options for supporting Houston
Thank you to everyone who has offered to help us during this disaster. Your kind words and well wishes have helped to brighten our crazy world.
Our story so far:
Many of you have asked how you can help.
Our family is doing pretty well right now. We have secured a rental townhouse and arranged for some appliances and furniture. Many local friends have provided household goods. We’ll sort through those to see what else we might need. Over the next few days, we’ll work on replacing the cars, but we have a rental car.
So, our family is not desperate for help. We are fortunate to have family, friends and other resources. But other Houstonians do not.
If you are interested in helping, please consider a donation to one of the following:
Sysco associates: Sysco has established the Sysco Foundation and will match every dollar contributed. That money will be used to help the 400+ Sysco families that were displaced during Hurricane Harvey. Sysco is already doing amazing work to get associates into hotels and helping with emergency needs. Check “The Dish” for more information.
To support our neighborhood: Our school district, Spring Branch ISD, is raising money to support families in the district impacted by the floods. Our area has a mix of families with different income levels, so this money will benefit the classmates of our kids. You can donate here: https://www.pledgecents.com/cause/yldlny/hurricane-harvey-supporting-sbisd-famili/cause
To support broader Houston: The Red Cross is an option for a more general donation.
Thank you for keeping us all in your thoughts and prayers.
