Changing the Narrative
Jacqueline Novogratz

No, not true! Please let’s help the poor but let’s remember that dignity and sensibility are open as well even to the misinformed, uneducated poor.

I grew up in the third world — Ghana; I saw with my own eyes how the ‘third world’ narrative killed off any initiative and creativity. I had an Uncle who organized the young men in the community to clean gutters to allow free water flow to combat the breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

All that’s left to the poor in fact is choice; to deny them that is to undermine all the good we can bring.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
