The Women Before Me
Ozzy Etomi

Who and What on God’s earth are you? How do you see this clearly? How do you think this beautifully? What price did you pay to arrive here? How many are your scars? Heavens! How is this even real! I grew up in Ghana, I heard all their voices with every line. My grandmother, my mother and aunts, all the ones who went before. The women.

In the West we have the feminine revolution, it’s nearly complete; in Africa we haven’t had the men’s revolution! Women come second, always. It’s not part of the problem. It is the problem.

If I enjoyed this anymore than I have it would kill me!

Kyrie eleison and thank you!
