To Alter or to Abolish

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it .

To alter or to abolish,
Dry black ink on faded white old crumbled paper,
Speak words of revolution,
Are these words ones we do not hear?
Clipped and diluted
Laws unheard,
silenced unable to break through thick walls of loud ignorance,

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,
Dichotomies of words that ring freedom
Free from chains shackling around cold fragile hands of scars that are tired of being put up

Hands up don’t shoot ring more than those bells of liberty and patriotism,
Bells that ring no more, create volumes of silence with noise locked in cages of justice ,

All men are created equal is self evident,
But what is self evident about black brown bodies dumped into graveyards of shattered bullets used up from impact of innocent skins,
Headlines that don’t change but names do,
There are letters that have yet to be used,
Am I next?
It Give chills to bones to know a cemetery where faces of siblings speak to the reflection of the mirror I hold everyday

To alter or to abolish
Words from white men,
Not mine,
To alter is to evolve slavery
Use labor to build foundations only to be prisoners our own creation,
Slave patrols wear badges of gold with blue uniforms to conceal and camouflage
We know who you are

Founding fathers
Speak to the masses who shed blood to your oath
Tell them to clean up the crumpled laws that choke
Free your slaves who still are locked by the shackles of your nation
Tell the masses
To Tear down walls don’t build them
To dismantle institutions- their roots have buried justice
