Teamwork: Genius Myth

I am currently studying a book by B.W Fitzpatrick and B. Collins-Sussman called Debugging Teams. This book discusses about how best creative engineers can work together as a team.

People are afraid of being judged of their work before it is finished and therefore they either (1) hide themselves in some cave and try to perfect their work before they can show it to the world, or (2) keep their idea a secret until they can work on it and get it done.

Whilst this may seem like a good idea: it is a clear sign of insecurity. It is a clear sign of the fear of judgement or the fear that someone might just steal your idea and run faster with it than you.

Whilst this may be true we need to strike a balance between working in a cave (Batman style) and sharing our work with others… This will help you and your project in several ways which I am going to be sharing in my next article.
