Automation templates screen

As I demo’d back at the beginning of October, the new automation templates section of the Box Admin Console is now LIVE for all users.

This screen can help you increase the power of using the Box CLI by giving you access to our most used automation scripts — and we aren’t stopping here. We will continue to expand on the available templates as time progresses.

If you haven’t used the CLI before, make sure to check out our quick start guide or our YouTube playlist for helping getting setup.

We hope you enjoy this new release, and please feel free to reach out to us on the developer forum for support, or via Box Pulse to make suggestions on how to improve the Box CLI.

We recently released a new permissions option for shared links —can edit! In addition to releasing this feature in the Box Web App, developers can also create or update editable shared links for files using the API.

Our Box SDK libraries will be updated in the coming months. Until then — you can find a cURL example in the permissions section of our developer documentation.

Currently, can_edit can only be true for items with a type of file . Also, if you Box primary administrator has changed your enterprise’s content sharing settings to not allow editable shared links, you will not be able to use the feature.

We hope you enjoy this enhancement, and please feel free to reach out to us on the developer forum for support, or via Box Pulse to make suggestions on how to improve the feature.
