Jumping on the React train

Maaan, I don’t know. I’m worried but I crave that level up feeling again.

After a couple of hours over a couple of days trying to get my packages to work (yarn hates me and I don’t have time for it so I’m sticking with npm right now) and figure out what’s going on because me and the first couple of video lessons and me weren’t getting along, I’m getting some basics. I’ve gathered some articles and videos to peruse and hope one of them gives me clarity when I need it, and I’m sure it’s coming.

But damn it’s a lot of typing. And it’s messy. VSCode can’t handle it, and I’m hating not getting that space between the HTML tags and the instatab. I spend more time formatting it than anything else, just for a little widget. I dared to Beautify my component and it was horrid. H-h-horrid. All those braces and parentheses…it’s like promises but worse.

But at least I know where the semicolon goes. When I watched those service worker vids I swear they were being sloppy because I’d have to put semicolons in different places to make the red go away and for things to run. I wish Udacity had put something in there about where to put the semi. It would be like a 2 minute clip. I thought I had it until I had to put a semicolon on a .then() that I thought was supposed to hang. It throws me off so much.

I’m hoping to get through fast enough to watch everything twice if needed and fill in any gaps and baby step into the project as soon as possible. Ugh. I’m going to have to breathe this until it’s comfortable.
