Prajwal Revanna video: Former driver says clips were given to BJP leader
The case of the controversial video allegedly featuring Prajwal Revanna going viral has taken a new turn. According to Prajwal’s former car driver, he did not give the video clips to the Congress but to BJP leader G. Devaraje Gowda. This has led to accusations being hurled between the two parties.
The driver, Karthik, stated in a video message shared on social media that he had been working with Prajwal Revanna for the past 15 years but quit about a year ago. He claimed that his decision to distance himself from Prajwal was due to his land being seized and his wife being assaulted, adding that he was also mentally tortured. He resigned to fight to regain his land.
Karthik mentioned that he approached G. Devaraje Gowda for justice as he was opposing the Deve Gowda family. Devaraje Gowda contested the 2023 assembly elections from the Holenarasipura assembly constituency on a BJP ticket and lost to Revanna. Karthik said, “Prajwal Revanna had obtained a court order preventing me from releasing any obscene pictures or videos.”
He alleged that Devaraje Gowda asked him for the pictures and videos, promising to present them before a judge to help lift the injunction. Trusting Devaraje, he handed over a copy of the video clip, which was then used.
However, Karthik accused Devaraje Gowda of deceit, stating, “Apart from him, I did not give the video to Congress leaders or anyone else. I approached Devaraje because he was not close to Prajwal, but he too deceived me.”
The BJP welcomed the suspension of Prajwal Revanna by the JD(S) on Tuesday.
Countering the allegations, Devaraje Gowda told reporters in Bangalore that Karthik had been in contact with Shreyas Patel, the Congress candidate from the Hassan constituency. He claimed that neither JD(S) nor BJP would release the video as it would go against the NDA alliance candidate.
He further accused the Congress, stating, “If anyone was benefiting from this, it was Congress. The Congress candidate, Shreyas Patel, exploited the situation for his political gain, compromising the dignity of the women shown in the video.
