Good article. Apple is doing a disservice to many users by not support service worker.
However, while I agree that offline support is probably the most important part of PWAs, there are many other aspects of PWAs that are available on Safari that still aren’t being implemented in many new apps e.g. progressive loading with code-splitting/critical CSS/server-side rendering.
My point is that there is still a lot that we can do to approach the PWA standard with or without Apple on board.
I think Apple will have to cave eventually as they’ll really start to look bad compared to Chrome. We can pressure them by including service worker features in apps which will encourage more users to switch to Chrome.
