Cluster of Liver Disease in Hawaii: Not Related to USP Labs Dietary Supplements (wild hog meat to blame)

A paper titled “The mystery of the Hawaii liver disease cluster in summer 2013: A pragmatic and clinical approach to solve the problem” has recently been published. The paper takes aim at the CDC’s conclusions that a cluster of liver disease in Hawaii could beattributed to ingestion of OxyElite Pro, a supplement manufactured by USP Labs.

According to the paper at hand, eating wild hog meat, and some other random stuff was to blame. The first author listed on the paper has received honorarium (aka money) from a law firm that represents USP Labs.

Well, at least that’s settled.
