This article could have been better. Here is, my opinion, why.

“Eclectic culinary ecosystem has remained steadfast and relatively unrattled for many years — that is, until now” — but you also missed amazing spots such as Cassava on Balboa, HoDaLa on Geary, and Jijime on Geary. Other locally owned spots who are not backed by restaurant groups and are first time owners looking to get their shot in the bustling food scene. Yuka, the co-owner of Cassava, is the president of the Richmond Merchants Association. Adding her spot to this list would have sufficed.

The places that were chosen for the list are also all owned, in part, by two separate restaurant groups—it doesn’t seem that the writer does live in this area and possibly is just getting press releases (with press imagery) from the same PR group that represents all the restaurants respectively. You also didn’t credit Grace Sager for most of these images. This article seems to be a glorfied sponsored piece.

“The Richmond District Is Having a Restaurant Renaissance”

But you didn’t even cover spots on Stanyan St to Arguello and nowhere near 36th ave and back. You didn’t even research new spots south of Geary (from Fulton to Anza.) If you’re going to speak about a “renaissance” or a rebirth, I don’t want places in the 6 months, I want the last 6 years, shorter or longer. When was the last major renaissance that the Richmond District had? We want ample reporting on the restaurant scene, history, key notes, anecdotes, and what does it look like now. True Bold Italic style.

Any who, take it or leave it. It doesn’t entirely matter because these places are delicious to eat at. In my opinion actually living in the area, would have made for a better article about a “renaissance.” Are you reading, managing editor?
