If you ever used a film camera, you either must be a) very old, and/or b) know that once exposed to light, the film is ruined! Now imagine using a camera that’s the size shoebox!! Probably too heavy to be portable right? Well, the first analog camera was actually around that size, and was invented sometime in the 1800’s, so you know it’s been around for a long while. The discovery of the analog camera and its advances can’t be pinpointed exactly, but as a rough summary, analog camera used lightwaves to capture photons onto a chemical paper, but nowadays, digital camera capture images in a snap using waaay more advanced technology than chemical paper and light.

However, a company that we still hear nowadays that’s been keeping in touch with this vintage style photography goes by the very well known brand as Polaroid. I’m sure you’ve heard of them, perhaps you even own one! Although this brand has sold its production line to another company in 2008, the Polaroid brand was once power leading brand when it came to instant film.

When one hears “polaroid”, we think of a type of camera photography used to capture an image onto a special paper, right? But actually, Polaroid is a patented brand, marketed as a one of a kind type of photography that can’t be obtained through another brand, similarly to how Apple has created a market just for themselves. Although Polaroid filed for bankruptcy in 2008, the company who bought their production line, which went by Impossible Projects, now referred to as Polaroid Originals, has made the one-of-a-kind photography style boom in success in recent years. Due to current markets for more traditional, vintage style pieces, Polaroid has boomed with their analog vintage style of instant photos, and can be considered a success of analog technology in present day digital trends.
