Hudson’s Bay is one of Canada’s most-loved retailers, and there are plenty of reasons why. First, there’s Hudson’s Bay famous point blanket, and undoubtedly people love the Hudson’s Bay Rewards program and the coupons and discounts they offer for The Bay.

Here’s your handy guide to saving money and earning rewards at The Bay.

Q: Where can you earn Hudson’s Bay Rewards?
A: In addition to shopping at Hudson’s Bay stores, you can earn rewards at Home Outfitters or thebay.ca. Although Hudson’s Bay also owns Saks Fifth Avenue, Gilt, and Lord & Taylor, those stores are not currently part of the Hudson’s Bay Rewards program. In addition, you can convert RBC Rewards points to Hudson’s Bay gift cards, and earn points for all of your shopping with the Hudson’s Bay MasterCard.

Q: How many rewards points can I earn?
A: Depending on your rewards level, you’ll get 1–2 points per dollar spent. This amount is doubled if you pay with a Hudson’s Bay MasterCard or Hudson’s Bay credit card. Rewards levels are earned by the amount spent per calendar year, before taxes:

Hudson’s Bay Rewards (Spend $1-$399.99 per year) — 1 point per dollar

Hudson’s Bay Rewards Plus (Spend $400+ per year) — 5 points per dollar

Hudson’s Bay Rewards VIP (Spend $1,200+ per year) — 2 points per dollar

In addition, if you have a Hudson’s Bay MasterCard, you’ll earn 2 points per dollar spent almost anywhere else you use it. You’ll also get 25% points bonus twice a year, in January and July.

Q: How can I use my points?
A: There are three options to redeem your points. You can choose to redeem for a Hudson’s Bay Gift Card in denominations of $25, $50, or $100. Check out their website here to redeem your points now.

Next, you have the option to redeem Hudson’s Bay Rewards Points for Air Miles through airmiles.ca. Sign up for the Air Miles program and your Rewards Points will automatically be converted each week. You can start or stop automatic redemption any time.

Finally, you can choose to donate your points to worthy charities like the Canadian Red Cross, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Children’s Aid Foundation, or Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. You can choose a worthy charity here, and then donate your points as you see fit.

Q: How much is each point worth?
A: If you’re redeeming for HBC Gift Cards, each point is worth half a cent. So you need to collect 5,000 points to redeem for a $25 gift card, 10,000 points to redeem for a $50 gift card, and 20,000 points to redeem for a $100 gift card. The value of your points redeemed through other methods can vary, so be sure to check out those programs for details.

Q: What’s this I’ve heard about Petro Points?
A: Hudson’s Bay Rewards has a partnership with Petro Points. If you register your Hudson’s Bay Rewards membership with the Petro Points program, you’ll get 20% more rewards points at Hudson’s Bay, Home Outfitters and thebay.com, as well as 20% more Petro-Points at Petro-Canada. Link your cards here to get started.
