Great post! We had a ver similar experience: when I had the idea for “chatShopper: shopping via chat” in April 2015 we tested the idea with human experts (=> us). The idea got a lot of traction and we handled over 20k in requests. We learnt fast, that the idea is working but not scalable. In December 2015 we built the first chatbot and a lot of people thought we’re nuts :). We’re still happy we made this move early on but our bot is still in training. Conversational chatbots are much harder to build than you would expect in the beginning but I truly believe in them for the future 🤖👗🚀
