The unforgiving Sea of Change (from Capt. Bossman’s Illustrated Workplace Satire, episode 02)

To make a long story short: Captain Bossman is a metaphor. A talking statue in the role of a mentor telling workplace stories with Character(s).

Once upon a time, there was no illustrated workplace satire…

Every day, professionals scoured the world in search of entertaining microlearnings, but could not find any that caught their attention. Traditional articles were just too long and easily forgotten in the age of information overload, and quasi-gurus began to repeat themselves only with different emojis 🚀💎🍗👀

One day, three brave souls dared to challenge this status quo. They asked themselves, “What if we created a new and engaging way of communicating reality in the workplace?”

Because of that, the horizon of workplace edutainment changed forever, with Captain Bossman bravely at the helm.

But then the storm of skepticism began to grow. A vocal army of naysayers began to question why storytelling should have a place in the modern workplace. “Why should the most effective and memorable way of learning be introduced to people who need it?” the laggards asked. They did not appreciate what was new and feared what it might become…

Until finally, a handful of innovators had the courage to give Captain Bossman a chance. 54 brave souls helped fund the world’s first illustrated workplace satire via Kickstarter, ending a long period of doubt and anxiety for us creators.

So, who is Captain Bossman?

Capt. Bossman is a fictional character with a rich history and an even richer personality that has survived numerous duels with Cancel Culture. Although being drawn as a masculine anthropomorphic statue, our character’s main values endorse a universally inclusive prosocial approach towards humanizing work in the modern era.

The epitome of Mentoring, our Capt. Bossman is dedicated to all the mentors out there who selflessly share their knowledge. No matter how stupid the question. A noble vocation nearly forgotten today, as workplace dynamics leave almost no time for mentoring.

A zeitgeist of times past and a monument to a progressive future, Capt. Bossman’s metaphors focus on creating a humanized and inclusive workplace in the modern era. For all human beings equally.

In a way, Captain Bossman almost became an invertebrate, after being pressured to rename our narrator as “Capt. Bossma’am”. But at the last moment, we decided to have a spine and create a character with Character. And that means having an attitude about certain things and writing with creative independence.

What are Capt. Bossman’s Illustrated Workplace Stories, really?

Capt. Bossman shares workplace insights in metaphors using principles of aesthetic storytelling, activating both brain hemispheres and making sure messages are easily remembered.

There’s more to this product than meets the eye. We dissect everyday workplace situations and turn them into goofy, satirical picture books full of character(s). We transform relevant academic insights into a short and poetic form, wrapped in colorful metaphors. These witty remarks are enriched with a combination of full color illustrations and sophisticated line drawings, specifically designed to spark your imagination.

You can use them as a great conversation starter with anyone working around you. And if you don’t like people, you can still chuckle while reading it for yourself.

What do the Critics have to say about Capt. Bossman’s Workplace Stories?

Take a look for yourself. We’ve all heard the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover.” But what about judging it by its review? In the age of the Internet, it seems like everyone’s a critic — and this includes professional book critics with questionable intentions.

So we reached out to one of the most influential names in the picture book reviewing business, Grandmaster Mattheus…
