In my previous article, I shared the inception of Feedrika, a news API service designed to simplify access to diverse news sources for developers and businesses. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and I’m thrilled to continue this journey with you all. Today, I want to dive deeper into the challenges and strategies involved in growing Feedrika from a fledgling idea to a robust platform.

The Past Week: Product Over Publicity

This week, I decided to focus less on public engagement and more on product development. This shift was deliberate, aimed at enhancing the core functionalities of Feedrika to better serve users. Here’s a look at what transpired.

Analytics Snapshot

Despite the decreased focus on marketing, we still saw some traffic driven by previous efforts. Here are the stats for the last seven days:

  • Unique Visitors: 32 (down 67%)
  • Total Visits: 39 (down 61%)
  • Total Pageviews: 98 (down 71%)
  • Views Per Visit: 2.51 (down 25%)
  • Bounce Rate: 64% (up 17%)
  • Visit Duration: 3m 15s (up 127%)

The numbers reflect a significant drop in engagement, which was anticipated given the lack of new marketing efforts. However, it’s encouraging to see that the visit duration has more than doubled, indicating that those who do visit are finding value and spending more time exploring the platform.

Traffic Sources

  1. Reddit and Previous Articles: While there were no new posts this week, previous articles and discussions continued to drive some traffic. This underlines the importance of creating evergreen content that can attract users over time.
  2. Twitter: The Feedrika X profile is still in its early stages. I post the latest digest every 2–3 hours, but traction remains low. Building a following on Twitter takes time and consistency, so I’m committed to continuing this effort.
  3. BetaList and Startupbase: These directories unexpectedly drove some traffic. Listings on these platforms can provide visibility among early adopters and tech enthusiasts.

Upcoming Tutorials

Additionally, I started developing tutorials similar to this one on Medium, to help developers integrate Feedrika into their applications. Tutorials are a great way to showcase the practical uses of Feedrika and attract developers who are looking for reliable news data solutions. These tutorials will be featured on the Feedrika website to provide valuable resources for Feedrika’s users and attract more developers to the platform.

Learning and Adaptation

This week really hammered home the importance of balancing product development with marketing. It’s vital to build a solid, reliable product, but staying engaged with the community is just as crucial. Next week, I’m planning to ramp up the marketing efforts again, using the improvements we’ve made to the product as a springboard.

The Road Ahead

The journey of building and marketing Feedrika is far from over. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities. My goal is to continue refining the product, expanding the user base, and ensuring that Feedrika remains a valuable tool for accessing news data.

I am incredibly grateful for the support and feedback from the community. If you haven’t already, I invite you to check out Feedrika at feedrika.com and join me on this exciting journey. Your insights and support are what make this venture possible.

Stay tuned for more updates, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or feedback. Let’s keep building something amazing together!
