Imagine two corporations are competing in the same market. The inferior company will always try to either copy the successful strategies of the winner or to learn from the mistakes the other corporation is making. A lot of 2nd runners in this corporation races have as their mission statement that they want to bring down the market leader. Which, if we think about it, gives off a fragrance of defeatism and olderbrother-younger brother syndrome.

Because there is some weird safety on being the loser. On being the underdog. On being the follower. On being the one who reacts. On being the one who needs to mirror the other individual.

Because by being all these, you inadvertently or willingly remove the initiative of being the winner. You just want to be a moral loser.

Failure has definitely some weird safety around it.
