How can you teach or learn in conditions like these?

I agree with Tony Casson about how better education can help others but I want to expand my answer.

Yes, I really don’t understand how it works in your environment.

But I do understand how it works outside: if it’s broken — fix it and no one will come to help you.

I didn’t say that you should put a band-aid and it’s done. That’s just no good. This creative process could help kids right now to feel better and safer and, for example, grab the attention of TV guys, who might show this on the national TV, bloggers and local rich people and government and that’s how it spread in the Attention Economy.
A message like: “Well, it’s bad but we’re trying to learn kids with what we have. Imagine what could we do with the proper tools”.

But what I really don’t understand is that why this school doesn’t have books or why parents can’t fix this dangerous pipe? Is it so difficult for parents to just buy, I don’t know, 10–15 books for $100–150 or hire a professional plumber?
