Light my fire, LondonReal, Go Ahead!
Many of you who read this will be far too young to appreciate the sense of being or even the concept of being half a century in human years. However, there may be a handful of you that will have passed that landmark and like me, wonder where the heck time went!
Let this be a gentle warning to you youngsters to seize the day and seize the moment so that you can fully express yourselves and lead, as the cliche goes, the life of your dreams! Perhaps you will not know what this means, since it can take some years for the scales to fall away from one’s eyes in order to really see what life is about.
For me and those born before 1970, I’ve just completed something which has finally lit the fire and with the flames licking my ankles, I am making a note for posterity in this message to you and the world before I get swallowed up in the action that will shortly ensue!
That something is the Business Accelerator course hosted by Brian Rose at LondonReal. Like most of the previous years, these past 8 weeks have flown by, and yet at the same time, I cannot believe I made it through and that I am actually here. Here is a place and time and location in an opening dimension of self determination and freedom. Yes, it’s the end of the course, but the beginning of the rest of my life in which I am not regretting that I have not got myself into gear yet!.
On my 50th birthday, in June 2015, I remember stating boldly that “I am just getting started”. I think I was referring to what felt like everything, but in truth was a little less than that. Whilst I have had a fantastic career, been fortunate to travel half the world with my work, presented to hundreds and hundreds of my peers on the subject about which I am passionate, had two books published and talked about them on BBC1, driven around in a Maserati Gran Turismo for a few years, have a beautiful house and garden, and have two great kids and three great step-kids, and a beautiful courageous wife, there was still that sense of not having made it. Clearly, this has to do with me, the me within me, and not the outer. I wonder if you have any idea what I mean? Perhaps it’ll be the baby boomers that make more sense of this than those born in the 90’s and beyond! I think it may be a kind of middle-aged FOMO, perhaps not?
Day after day after day for almost five years since that landmark birthday, I have been aware that I just had not got much further in that nebulous expression “I am just getting started”. In fact, I was pretty much in the same place, wheels spinning, maintaining that lifestyle but no closer to the elusive sense of independence and providing a greater service to the world. Yes, for sure, you could say that the thousands of folk whom I have helped and the thousands of students whom I have taught, are undoubtedly something to be grateful for. Yet, without any sense of greed, there has to be more.
One day in April 2020, my lovely wife drew my attention to Brian Rose at LondonReal and I saw that he was interviewing two people whom I know personally, so my interest was instant. However, it was the Business Accelerator course that she was referring to. I meditated for a few minutes and this helped to enable the insight that I needed. I then paid the course fee, which was not money that I had to spend, what with the reduction in my usual business due to lockdown. The course started in two days’ time! It had taken five years to find this, was the feeling within.
In the deep end, taking on water, it felt like I had not been a strong enough swimmer. No let up, pedal to the floor, new vistas, unknowns and inspiration all around. Brian’s been there and done that, and there are hundreds of us who wish to do the same. He knows what he’s doing, he knows how to put it together for us, and he probably wouldn’t take prisoners but I wasn’t going to find that out! I am in a team of last-minute sign-ups of about 20 of us, I guess. This team was soon to become one of the three highlights of this course, that I would describe as fantastic and one that finally lit the fire.
Eight weeks in which to cover a module per week, starting curiously at Module 0. No time to ask why, got to keep on moving. Follow directions, do what is required, echoes of training at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst back in 1987. He told it straight, did Brian, “just follow each step and it will happen”. So, that’s what I did. I’m sparing you the late nights of frustration with myself, with the tech stuff, and the apparent lack of time to complete the tasks. However, you know what? This is the effort required to get the kindling laid out. I did it with the help of the team, who may or may not wish to be featured in this review written on the last day of the course, Ed, Farah, Iulia, Bradd, Deb, Vik, Tamara, Patricia, Gayle, Julian, Kate, Ranko, Sam, Branimir, Mazin & Wasseem — so I will just use their first names!
As if pressed for time, and perhaps I will not ever be a master of time I acknowledge, I shall condense the essence of this course that takes you to the place you always wanted to get to, into 3 key things. Firstly, there’s Brian Rose humself, who stands for and lives for freedom of speech which is how I first came across him. Being a health advocate myself, I admire and praise Brian for his vital broadcasting in the face of so much censorship during this Covid-19 ‘debacle’. He also seems to have stepped into his Earthly Avatar in business too.
Secondly, there is the structure of the whole course with the brilliant accountability doc. For me, got me through the tough times, and it is a truly motivational super simple and effective tool.
Thirdly, the Team. If I had a hat, it would be off! Thank you #TeamFrost! You never know what’s gonna happen, but perhaps some will become firmer friends for a good while longer!
If you feel like life is passing you by, and you feel like you haven’t gotten started yet, and something is missing within you, DON’T go looking up London Real Academy if you want the easy life, is all I can say!
Thank you LondonReal!
Antony (whose shoes are on fire)
