What did you do this past week?

This past week I have been unwell, yet again. As evidence, in my blur of sickness, I completely missed writing a blog post last weekend and remembered, not to my surprise, just after the deadline. This would be the first time I missed the blog post, and third time I won’t be getting points for it (I had to set a reminder on my phone to upload the blog posts to canvas as well). But, in other news, I’ve been trying my best to attend all my classes. I am falling behind on my assignments, but I hope to catch up on them next week after some rest.

What’s in your way?

Well, right now, poor health, and weekend commitments I can’t excuse myself from. But again, I’m feeling stronger than I was last weekend and will try my best to catch up on all that was missed this week.

What will you do next week?

As mentioned earlier, I have fallen behind on many of my assignments and hope to finish as much as I can, as soon as I can. I also hope to attend office hours with my professors to clear up some doubts.

I’m an exchange student here, and have not gotten much time to go around to see the city before I leave at the end of the semester. I also hope to squeeze in maybe a night out somewhere.

What was your experience of SQL? (this question will vary, week to week)

I have never used SQL before, and was surprised at how intuitive it is. As this is my first encounter with databases, I have a lot more to learn of course. The classes this week were definitely a good start in helping me get over the initial hurdle of starting to learn something new.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Last week I was trying to learn Docker. Docker was released in 2013. It is already used by a lot of companies. It’s used to increase ease in building, deploying and running applications using containers and is open source(https://github.com/docker.). I used a few resources, and found the resource below to be useful to anyone just starting out.

I promise I’m not narcissistic — a solo unobstructed picture against a white background is a requirement :) (also, look, it me!)
