Everything you need to know about sex after a serious breakup

That got your attention, didn’t it?

Well, for the past few years, I’ve had a pretty committed guy in my life. Here he is, pictured with me. I lovingly call him “Panda”. (I know, very imaginative.)

Now that I’ve set the stage, you know this isn’t going to be the racy article you were expecting.

It’s more like a few pointers that I want you to consider while you’re in that very vulnerable place after a serious breakup. I’ve come across enough stories of people badly hurting themselves or others, or making terrible life decisions such as second marriages they later regret, that I want to share these insights….Read the rest

Stuff I recommend from around the web

Text

  • Turning a breakup into a positive experience: Healing after heartbreak is an intentional process. This NYTimes piece offers all-round great advice.
  • Buddhists in love: How principles of detachment, mindfulness, and selflessness can lead to a healthier togetherness, whether you’re Buddhist or not! Lovely stuff.

Video

  • The charming and heartwarming story of a woman who realized that she had been avoiding the most important relationship in her life — the one she had with herself — and found that nurturing it would transform her life and love.
  • Goat babies in pajamas! Treat yourself and smile. It’s good for you. :)

Audio

  • A Hidden Brain podcast episode discussing the evolution of marriage from a primarily economic partnership to one based on love and attraction. Learn how marriage has gotten harder but also has the potential for being more rewarding than ever.

Community offerings coming soon!

Human connection heals. Being understood heals.

It also helps cope with the isolation and changing social circles that can accompany romantic heartbreak. Ironically, it can be difficult to find the very people who could provide appropriate support and company. Loneliness is a regular complaint voiced in online forums for divorce/breakups.

Currently I’m designing a couple of community offerings to make it easier for people to connect safely and authentically with others in the same shoes. Please join my waitlist and be the first to hear when I launch! Rest assured I take your privacy and confidentiality very seriously.

Recent reads

I read a couple of books last month and I recommend both!

Yoga & the Pursuit of Happiness: Not about yoga poses! Recommended mainly because it’s a very accessible and sensible introduction to concepts like meditation, looking inward, being in flow, and living a life of meaning and joy. A balanced presentation of ancient wisdom and modern science.

The Way of Liberation: While I’m new to the author, his work truly spoke to me and it might to you as well (if not now, perhaps later). A healthy response to heartbreak involves some of the same inquiry, discipline, stillness, and sincerity that the book advises to anyone serious about spiritual awakening.
