It’s time to worry about the human psyche who, as always, is as random and lethal as ever.

Disclaimer: The article talks about war, political tensions and Western Policies.

The Israel-Palestinian War has sent ripples across the global community. At the epicenter of it all are the human communities that suffer every day the war rages on.

The tumultuous history of the region combined with oil interests of the “First-World” countries makes this another war incubated in the Western laboratories of Warfare.

On the one hand, Hamas should be blamed for escalating tensions, for being the initiator of attacks. Launching thousands of rockets and catching residents unawares is not a way to steer attention.

However, aggressive stance of Israel and its right wing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu towards the “contested region” begs the question:

What do you do when you are backed into a corner?

There are times when the narrative shifts away from you, people simply bat a blind eye and look away from your miseries. Why would they? They are too preoccupied with their own matters.

But why then, do the so-called First World countries consider themselves the “safeguard of peace and democracy” around the world. Did they not learn from the wars they induced in Afghanistan and Syria.

Donald Trump has blamed the US President, Joe Biden for the ongoing war. Rightly so, because US brokered a peace deal between the two warring parties earlier; one that has been shunned by the Arabs.

In moments like these, it is prudent to take matters into their own hands. Not like this, definitely; but via dialogue. Need I say more about the rigid stance adopted by the Islamist parties?

The current situation demands a ceasefire to arrest damage and initiate peace talks.

What is not surprising is the Western Media painting Israel as the victims and Hamas as the barbaric perpetrators. I am yet again reminded of doublespeak and post-truth from Oscar Wilde’s 1984 and Animal Farm. For there are no friends in politics. Neither there are enemies. Consequences change and policies pivot.

It is here that I question the Western countries who consider their problems too big, while developing economies struggle perpetually. I have great admiration and respect for our External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, who have rightfully pointed out such loopholes and opportunism in Western Politics.

For now, we wait with bated breath to see which side the camel sits. It is such a revelation that despite rumours of AI taking over the world, we are still swayed and controlled by a limited group of individuals sitting in high offices and deciding our fates, as they like. It’s time to worry about the human psyche who, as always, is as random and lethal as ever.
