Do you want a free Goodlife membership forever?
So I noticed that in the beginning of summer, a lot people started carrying around Goodlife bags and posting pictures of them at the gym on their snapchat stories and all my girl and guy friends were talking about how summer was the time they were making the commitment to “get in shape” or to “get ripped before school starts” and all that shit.
I guess this was for two reasons, because it was free for teens in the summer and because everyone had a fuckload of time.

Well now it’s August and you either clicked this article, because you’ve been going to the gym consistently and are pissed off because once August ends you’ll have to drop 50+ a month for a full time membership or think of alternatives OR you’re a lazy fuck and you want a second chance to make a commitment to “living more healthy in 2017” but still don’t wanna pay 50 bucks a month either. Now I have recently found a simple way that let’s you have a Goodlife Membership FOREVER and for FREE (Jesus, I sound like some sketchy page that funny vine accounts on Insta do shoutouts for) but it requires some work and time.
The magic, money saving, life changing, revolutionary way to have a Goodlife membership forever and for free is…(drum roll please)

Volunteering. Many people (and I’m surprised by this) didn’t know that you could volunteer at Goodlife. Now, this has to do with Goodlife being really lowkey about it and not really advertising it per say, but it exists. Atleast at the Meadowvale and Millcreek Gyms and probably at the other ones as well. So the way it works is you literally go in to any Goodlife with a resume and say “Hey who can I speak to about a volunteer position here?” (at the MDV gym it’s a guy named Andy) . And you meet the guy and he skims through your resume (they really don’t give a shit, it’s more of a formality) and then he tells you what days they need volunteers and the different time slots.

After that they just record your contact information and give you a fucking shirt to wear and you start when they tell you. Once you are signed up with their volunteer program they will either change your account (if your already a teen member) from a“free teen summer member” to “full time member.” Or if you’ve never been there they just make a new account for you with a full time membership.
This gives you access to everything in the gym except the tanning beds because most of you reading this, like me, aren’t 18 yet.
As I said it’s really simple but it requires work and time, just like anything that holds potential value. Now you’re probably wondering what you actually do when you’re volunteering, like are you wiping equipment, after a fat dude sweats, all the water of all the great lakes (combined) on to the leg press machine and leaves a nice big sweat spot on the leather padding , embedding the logo on the back of his tank top (that’s obviously too small for him) into the fabric? (no offence to fat dudes, the world loves you)

No. You’ll be taking care of that fat dude’s kids. Basically you’ll be volunteering at Goodlife’s JUMP program. Now when I found out about this I was like “wtf I don’t wanna take care of no kids” BUT after listening to one of my friends who told me that she “loves working there” and “the kids are so funny and adorable” and most of them aren’t assholes and I felt like it didn’t seem to bad and thought I could save some people a few bucks and it’d be worth sharing.
Back to the volunteering, most of the time you’ll just have to hangout with the kids, watch movies with them and just keep them entertained and a lot of the kids are actually really chill.

Now the way it works, is there are 2 main time slots , the first is 7:00am — 9:30am in the morning, which I feel won’t work for any of you because we’ll pretty much be in school during those times BUT the other one is 5:00pm — 7:30pm in the evening , and I personally feel like this will work really well for most of you because you can do your homework after school or hang out with your friends till 5:00pm and then go get volunteer hours and get a workout in after.
To my knowledge, there are other time slots available but those are the two I know about for sure. Also if your looking at applying at the MDV Goodlife there are about 4 positions for different days for the 5:00pm — 7:30pm time slot.
So for those of you who are actually gonna get of your ass and apply, try to get it done asap. They mainly want people who are good with kids. So I guess that’s most girls because I know some of you already babysit or took that “baby sitting course” that was offered in middle school. But also if you’re a dude who’s good with kids, fuck it and apply, like they just want to know your good with the kids and aren’t a fucking psychopath and then they hold up their end of the bargain by giving you a free membership and volunteer hours.
Other additional shit that would be good to have but isn’t required is CPR or some kind of experience with young children (this doesn’t have to be formal babysitting like it can just be you taking care of your younger siblings).
But to be brutally honest if you don’t look like a fucking murderer, and you bring your shitty resume you made in careers to Goodlife, and ask nice enough, your pretty much guaranteed to get in.
P.S if you do get in send me a dm or snap , with you in a JUMP t-shirt with the kids. I’m interested to see who actually gets one of the 4 positions…
