I woke up to a wonderfully beautiful sunrise at glimpse from my sleeping bag. The morning chills of the wind got me struck somehow, as they hit my face with soft strokes. As I walked out of my sleeping bag, I was treated with a hot cup of morning tea. As we sat there, sipping tea, my eyes tried to take in the beauty of the location. The mysterious ‘floating island’ is said to move from one end to another seasonally. People here believe the island symbolizes Earth, and it’s location speaks for the good and bad happening on Earth.
It is quite a mystery that the depth of this lake cannot be measured till date. The way till the base camp is easy. You ride a bus from Delhi to Mandi. Take a bus from the Mandi bus stand till Baggi and walk from there to the base camp which is 3kms away. Thakur Dhaba at the base camp, will provide you with food and you won’t enjoy that luxury further on the journey.
The real trek starts with jumping on huge rocks and reaching across the river. We walked our way through the jungle and were finally able to find guest houses that signified the halt for the day. The next morning, as soon as we were finished with our baths with the water that felt like ice, we continued the trek to the lake which was surprisingly just 0.5 kilometres away.
The view took my breath away. The moment still reslishes my mind. It reminded me what it is like to reach a destination. I want my destiny to be filled with treks like these; where you just live in the moment and the next day, you feel that you just woke up dreaming about the best place ever.
