77th independence day

India is preparing to commemorate its 77th Independence Day, which falls on the 15th of August each year. The Day commemorates the suffering endured by our freedom fighters as they fought the British Empire. To honor our nation’s independence from the British Empire, the 15th of August has been designated a national holiday and is included in the gazette.

India attained independence following the division of the country into two nations. India commemorates August 15 as the day it gained independence from the British, although that day has long since passed and is now considered history; what is left is the brilliance of India’s battle.

The inaugural Indian Independence Day was observed on August 15, 1947, marking the 76th anniversary of the nation’s independence in 2022. To honor the day, the celebration was given the name "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" by the administration.

The official Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav website was released in March by the Ministry of Culture. The 75-week countdown to the Declaration of Independence’s 75th anniversary began on March 12 of 2021 and will end one year later on August 15 of 2022.
