Daniel, another great post. One thing I’d point out, is you implicitly assume: “Ads are bad and unwanted” — I think that is not always true. With relevance engines taking off all over the web its not bad. Is AMZN’s recommendation engine bad? not at all. I’ve bought several products I’d have missed otherwise because of their targeting. Same with NFLX, lots of cool shows would go missing. Now, if AMZN, NFLX, LNKD, YELP etc. are able to become ‘highly relevant, in the moment’ I’d say there is a golden mean, which seems more and more probably. Take TWTR’s example of charging only if the audience engages, a sign of confidence.
