Green Spaces as a service

Why are we speaking about cultural differences and decolonisation in relation to green spaces? I mean, a park is a park, so why complicate things right? The vision for the outcome is to build community. If we look at green spaces from a service design point of view, we need to consider how people experience and engage with the space. We move away from the ‘build it and people will come’ to a more human – centred approach towards parks. How can we truly build a world class, effective and sustainable park for people? What will keep them coming back for more? Will they go back and tell their friends about it?

As researchers, we can spend extended time with Ram and Emma and gather qualitative data about their individual preferences. …
