Introduction:

It is an Arabic word that means the ancient monuments left by previous civilizations to us, and because we talked about antiquities, we will talk about Al-Ula in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia because it is the focus of our project.

Research:

Why visit AlUla?

  • Al-Ula is considered a tourist city.
  • It is also considered a historical city for more than one civilization.
  • It has a beautiful nature among the mountains.
  • The activities and parties attracted many visitors.
  • Tourists coming to it are of different nationalities and cultures.
  • Multiple activities in Al-Ula to suit all tastes.

Initial Research Limitations:

  • Lack of documented information about hiking in Saudi Arabia.
  • Most of our interviewees haven’t hiked yet but wish to do so.
  • Most of our Interviewees are planners so accurate information is essential to them.
  • The experience Al-Ula website is so bad.

Research Findings:

  • People travel in big groups.
  • Al-Iua visitors are curious to discover its attractions.
  • Lack of information about attractions online.
  • The internet is weak! and in many places there’s no service.
  • Some places are known to have different names/spellings in English.
  • Google maps doesn’t work well!

Insight:

  • People who have visited Al-Ula before and who are consider to visit it, are facing difficulties to find Clear information about the places and the activities are there.
  • Most of the users like to travel on their vacation to explore new cities and get involved with an adventures activities.
  • Detailed information about the destination and advices from previous visitors are Important for our users, including the info about what to bring with them and how long the trip will be.

Problem statements:

Our hikers in Al-Ula who are aged from 25 to 35 have a problem that they having difficult time finding sufficient information about hiking sites and possible, as they can’t Find a website or app that provide a detailed information to them.

Solution introduction :

We aim to create a digital solution that will enhance their experience while visiting Al-Ula, by providing them with updated and reliable information to help them make decisions and navigate through the city.

Recommendations (Key Features):

  • our solution must contain (downloadable map) so our users can access the info offline.
  • our solution must include detailed-easy-to-navigate info about the activities and places to visit in AlUla.
  • our solution should have a reviews section.
  • our solution must have a continue as a guest option.
  • our solution should have an interactive map.

Our Goals:

User Goal:

find as much information as they can about the places/activities in AlUla and be prepared to what they have ahead.

Business Goal:

raise the number of hikers by providing enough information for them in one application.

  • When the user starts from the home page to search for a specific place, if there is a specific place, he will go to that specific place and the result will appear and the information etc. will appear.
  • If the user does not have a specific place in his mind, he will go to search and choose the place, the information will appear, all activities will appear in that place, he will choose a specific event, if he does not want to open the event, he will return to the search area for activities, and if he wants to open the activities, he will go to the map and can download the map etc

As we can see from the sample at the top, the home page of the application and the page of available activities and information appear for the user to benefit and collect the largest possible number of information about the place.

Testing:

  • 5 users.
  • 60% bounce rate on on the home page.
  • 2 users were able to perform the task indirectly.

Recommendations:

  • label the pages in the navigation bar so the user can tell where to go.

Future Steps

  • choose to browse trail through the eyes of a local or tourist.
  • Generate trail.
  • We can provide a lot of offers by contracting with companies to support the Hiker.
  • View the many individual combinations available.
  • Providing a reservation service with a tour guide.

Summary:

  • Access as much information as you need about one place.
  • decide based on other adventurers’ experiences by reading/viewing their journey.
  • find any trail you’re looking for whether it’s historical or adventurous.
  • downloadable info and map to help you out when the internet connection fails you.
