Our mental health can be impacted by so many things from the childhood that we experienced and the family that we came from to our adult relationships and career choices. These are just some of the few -

⭕Long term stress impacts our mental health by increasing our anxiety and depression, causing sleep problems, body pains and muscle tension.

⭕Adverse Childhood Experiences can cause us to have grown up with trauma, neglect or our basic emotional needs not being met which can lead to anxiety in our adult relationships and some unhelpful coping mechanisms in our lives.

⭕Genetics can make us more likely to be diagnosed with a mental illness or experience similar symptoms as our family members.

⭕Our physical health has a huge impact on our mental health. If our thyroid is out of whack it can cause symptoms also found in bipolar disorder. This is why it is always important to seek physical care and mental care simultaneously and always get a second opinion.

⭕Our environment and lifestyle will influence how we’re feeling. If we work in a toxic environment where nothing that we do feels appreciated it can increase our anxiety and increase our negative thoughts about self. If drinking alcohol is a big part of our lifestyle, we are more likely to experience depressive symptoms.

Remember so many things impact our mental health for better or for worse.
