On Jessica Jones, Netflix and the Utility of Trigger Warnings

I have to say that I find your “article” very offensive. I have a back ground of physical, mental and sexual abuse, and I find the Netflix show, “Jessica Jones” very honest and upfront on what the aspects of the results of abuse can be. I find it very refreshing how accurate they show how life can be like. The felling of self loathing, the helplessness, PSTD, etc of what that life can be like and what it does to you. The fact that you want life to be sugar coated is unrealistic. Life is never safe, sanitized or always the way you want. You and kids these days, that want life to have an “asterisk” next to everything, is why kids these days can’t deal with conflict or something difficult in their life. Just as I don’t agree with what you say in your article, and how I find it offensive and irresponsible, I don’t deny your right to say what you feel or think. Just as anyone else in the US or the World, have their right to express how they think or feel. That is what “Free Speech” is. It doesn’t make what they say is right, but it does make it ok for them to say what they believe. Stop living in a bubble and realize that you need to push past what you have gone through and become a stronger person. Stop depending on people to protect you. You need to protect yourself. Also, if you are going to watch something based on a fictional character, then read their backstory. You can prepare yourself on what you might see. The people who create it shouldn’t have to do that for you.
