CS 371P Spring 2022 #3: Anya Uwakwe

What did you do this week?
This past week was very eventful for me! Although I am (still) sick, I got to go home and be with my family. Being at home gave me the chance to focus on my work, which was good because I had one interview last week, and several coming up this week. Although I already have a good idea of where I will be working full time when I graduate in May, I still have been interviewing around to see if I can land something in my favorite city.
What’s in your way?
I do not think I have much in my way! I have made good progress on Project 1, and I finally feel like I am finally in the groove of this class! I feel like I have familiarized myself with the way it runs. I think getting my environment set up has contributed to this greatly.
What will you do next week?
Next week I will finish up project 1! I have a lot of stuff going in other classes, so I am glad project 1 is due so early in the week. That way I can focus on my other classes and interview prep. My org is also having our first in person general meeting this week, which I am extremely excited about.
What do you think of Paper #3: Continuous Integration?
I thought it was an interesting and helpful read! Continuous integration seems like it is a very valuable skill when used effectively by the whole team. I was glad to read an article by someone who had used it in such a way that it changed way that they are able to integrate code with their teammates.
What was your experience of UnitTests, Coverage, and IsPrime?
I enjoyed these lectures and exercises. I thought the IsPrime exercise was extremely helpful and intuitive. I also like that how it was used to give us tips on how thinking mathematically can help us save time and space in our code!
What made you happy this week?
Although the winter storm was a disruption for class, I was happy that it wasn't as bad as last year. I wasn’t expecting it to be bad, but I know there was a lot of fear from people who were hit especially hard last year. I’m glad that those people didn’t have to relive those experience. I do wish I had gotten snow or ice at home, because my dog loves it!
Pick-of-the-week!
For my pick-of-the-week, I have chosen a New York Times article about many companies, including Meta’s, fears about Apples new privacy features.
