This is where it starts . . .
As you may have heard learning to code is hard. I am not here to deny that. Right now I am on my own journey to learn how to code. My current stepping stone goal is to either freelance or find a job in web development. I would like to do this in the next 4–6 months. I also want to have enough projects to put together a portfolio to present to potential clients/employers.
With that being said that brings to the reason for starting this blog. I want to document this whole process for myself. I not only want to have this for myself but to help other beginners along their journey too. I remember first starting out and spending countless hours just looking for resources that I wanted to use. I had to sort the good from the bad. Here I will be sharing any resources I am currently using or have found that I think could be good for others. Hopefully that can help cut out some of those hours searching so you can begin to learn.
As a part of the documentation process I will be sharing what I am currently working on with projects and the topics I am learning. I will be explaining those topics as I understand them to hopefully help someone else understand them. But I also know by being able to explain said topics. It forces me to reinforce what I have learned to help it stick. I will not only share my successes but failures as well. I hope to share as best I can how I made it out of situations, where I got stuck and what finally made it click.
If anyone ever happens to read this blog, I do welcome feedback. I know my solutions probably won’t be the most elegant or efficient. This is a learning process for me so I do welcome any help you may offer. I do want to emphasize that you can leave feedback, however, this is a positive learning environment. So please keep the negativity away from here. Constructive critiques and feedback that can help make my code better is invited.
As of right now I am learning JavaScript. My HTML & CSS skills are already there. I taught myself those languages years ago and maintained that knowledge. One thing I am looking to learn is Sass but my sole purpose right now is JavaScript and building projects with that and that is what I will document here. I have been working on learning JavaScript on and off for a few months now, never consistently. That is another reason why I am starting this blog, to add some accountability for myself. I’ve committed to doing this! Once I feel comfortable with JS I will pick up Sass. Now with all the formalities out of the way, let’s code!
