about a new hat?! I finally got round to getting branded bucket hats to hopefully see us through the Summer heat! With arting.uk on the front I’m hoping it generates some interest as well as keeping us cool ;) We don’t run our regular art classes across the Summer holidays so try and use the time to work with other organisations, to take a break and to find new business, as well as coming up with new ideas and products so watch this space!

Well it’s been a while since I posted…we’ve been busy with community projects, art classes, school workshops and arty parties! Our shipping container project was heart warming: painting The Four Seasons with a group of refugees. We’ve worked with both Primary & Secondary schools and they’re always a blast! It’s been great fun and organisation is key because the bag packing involved is on another level. The pay off for all the hard work is spending time with so many wonderful people: watching them learn, create, socialise and enjoy art. We really do appreciate all the artists who choose to spend their time, money and energy with us. Thank You.

Well the last few weeks have been busy ones with loads of fabulous workshops for a range of groups and ages: mono-printing at Hull FC fan park(young black & whites), drawing fish with Afternoon tea at Pasco’s Italian (ladies who laugh), watercolours with the HU4 Hub and the Ignite team (fresh out of the box artists) and a wonderful session with Spring Cottage Primary (Year 2 energetic, egg paint making enthusiasts). Alongside all of this there have been the art classes where I have seen babies connect with paint and adults challenge themselves creatively! It has been an honour to share all of this and more with those who took part and I am looking forward to bringing more art experiences to a venue near you…

Who wants some? Family Arting! This week I decided to mix our offering up a bit and offer a family class where groups of three could create together…it will give families the chance to get some creative, together time in the week (without having to make a mess at home). We painted ladybirds in the baby classes this week and it was lovely to see the little artists enjoying the spots! I’m on the radio next week so I have to find interesting stories to discuss which are suitable for a Sunday morning but also which I can shoehorn art into…

What next?! We are seven weeks in and so far,so good…the classes are fun and full of lovely people and our first Groove is in the Art event was great fun. We’ve done a wonderful Afternoon Tea art workshop with more events in the pipeline: we really appreciate the support from local businesses and venues. As the world becomes scarier we think that art is more important than ever to soothe the soul so the Art Avengers will continue to bring it wherever and whenever they can!

What’s going on? It’s been a busy few weeks here at Arting! The Avengers are in full swing meeting and helping all of our wonderful artists and we’ve got lots of stuff to organise. A quick chat on Radio Humberside to discuss our Saturday night paint party ‘Groove is in the Art was fun and we really enjoyed getting to know the Hull 4 Heroes veterans at the watercolour workshop. We’ve also been planning an Afternoon of Art with an Italian twist (and Afternoon Tea!) at Pasco’s. It’s half term next week but we will be busy with flower printing at the HU4 hub as well as getting our dancing shoes polished…

How is it going? Well, the art classes are up and running with plenty of smiles and colour. Everyone seems to enjoy what’s on offer and we are enjoying meeting our artists and helping them create their power. We have a lot of materials and resources to transport around but we like offering loads of arty options plus it’s like a mini workout…Great feedback from clients and beautiful work produced all round in the classes. There is lots of interest in other areas of the business too so we can safely say that 2022 has got off to a great start!

Where have I been? To Hull and back! So…we’ve got a new website which now takes bookings and payments: arting.uk so that’s great :)The pandemic isn’t over yet which is not so great :( The art classes are all ready to go for January and I feel positive that people will enjoy the opportunity to get creative, relax and learn in a sociable but safe environment. I’ve had some meetings, joined LinkedIn and am putting myself about a bit haha. Bring it on 2022 ;)

What am I actually doing? Well, I’m building a business from scratch during the tail end of a pandemic of course. I’ve organised some Christmas workshops to promote our name and services which entailed much expense and mess. A week later there are dainty door hoops, table centrepieces and linocut cards to show as examples and I’m hoping people want to join in and get creative. The world is full of negativity and misery and I genuinely want to help people find a window of fun and relaxation amongst it all: we shall see…
