Art of War: Legions — How to Card Master

Art of War is a strategic mobile phone game developed by Fastone games. With the constant need for a powerful hero to lead your army, one consistent way to get shards are the biweekly Card Master Events. So how do they work?

Card Master is a 9 card guessing game, with the ultimate prize being the hero shard of your choice. Events run from Monday’s reset to Monday’s reset and alternate with Wheel of Fortune Events. With 25 rounds available, you have the ability to build up 25 shards per event. If it’s a new hero, that’s a level 6. The first step is to find the game on the home screen. Then, select the hero you want to play for. If none of the heroes interest you, it could be a good idea to wait for the next Wheel event and keep saving gems for the hero you really want.

This is where to find it on the home screen.

The rarer, more desirable heroes are generally on the left of the selection screen. The meh heroes that come up often are normally found more toward the right.

Davison, Kraken and Dracula are quality heroes to build. They are on the left, more or less in order of usefulness.
Poseidon, Nezha, and Wukong are on the Card Master draw often. Please do not spend gems on Wukong or Nezha.

After you’ve selected your hero, you’ll go to the shuffle screen. After you shuffle, the prizes are set into position. Once you find your hero, you can end the round and begin again. The first draw is 300 gems, each additional draw is 600.

Tips and Tricks

Each round has the potential to cost 300–5100 gems. You should begin each round with no fewer than 5100 gems, so you don’t leave any shards on the table at the end of the event. To clear all 25 shards could cost 7500–127500 gems. It’s a pricey game, and the sub prizes are not as good as what you can get from Wheel of Fortune Events. However, A new progress meter does dole out rewards based on total card draws, including extra shards of your choice — among available shards in the current event.

Have a set picking pattern in mind. Stick to it. This will help you keep your sanity. You should get the shard on the first draw twice per event, but you’ll also get it on the 9th draw that many times usingthe same logic. Just be consistent and limit variables.

Start your draws after the Wheel is announced. Sometime between Wednesday and Saturday each week, the next event is announced on the AOW Discord. You don’t want to have spent all your gems on a secondary hero if your main is coming up. There is no limit to how many rounds you can do a day, so waiting could help in the long run.

Avoid mediocre heroes. A level 15 Beowulf is easy to build because he’s often available. But, his ceiling is really low. Here’s a basic idea of which shards to go for and which ones to run from in terror.

Back up the truck: Selene, Chione, Aly, Seon

Pretty usable: Davison, Kraken, Dracula (for Infinity War and Honour Hunting).

Can be okay with the right army and love: Poseidon, Drake

Probably better off not: Mephisto, Apollo (he is usable in Hero Trials, but don’t try to main him), Harrison

Don’t you dare: Nezha, Beowulf, Wukong, Horus

Never available in CM: Arthur, Ivan, Zeus, Azrael

That’s how you Card Master. If you want a game with a fixed max price per shard, card master is for you. If you want better rewards overall, probably stick with Wheel of Fortune events.
