macOS has a Summarize feature, but is it comparable to ChatGPT?

One of my complaints about Apple is that they work so hard to put in useful features in their products but then don’t mention them at all! For example, I recently found out that when you take a photo using an iPhone, you can then open the image, hold your finger on a person, and then copy/share that person without the background!

Why do I have to discover this feature by accident? C’mon Apple!

The same thing happened with macOS. I just randomly learnt from a Reddit comment that macOS ships with a builtin text summarizer. It’s a background service and you have to make sure it’s enabled.

How to Enable macOS’s Text Summarizer

Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Services. Then expand “Text” and make sure the last item “Summarize” is checked.

How to use macOS’s Text Summarizer

The Summarize service runs locally on your machine, so no need to have an internet connection. You can’t just summarize a whole file by right-clicking on it:
