The Great Yorkshire Show
Why this is a great day out for all the family…
In a few days we will see the return of one of the biggest annual events in Harrogate, The Great Yorkshire Show.
It is an iconic event and one of the biggest agricultural events in the English calendar. Each year, more than 130,000 visitors and over 8,500 animals converge on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
This year is the 160th Great Yorkshire Show. It is set to be spectacular, celebrating the very best of food, farming and rural life while throwing in a few surprises to commemorate this incredible milestone, including GYSheifer!
Having grown up in Harrogate it’s been a tradition to attend and it’s a great day out for all the family.
It runs across three days, Tuesday 10th to Thursday 12th July. There’s something for everyone, whether you love animals, tractors, you fancy shopping for some delicious local produce or you simply want somewhere to wander around then chill with a pimms in the sun.
There’s lots of live events throughout each day, including fashion shows, livestock, cooking demonstrations and much more.
There will be loads to keep the kids entertained. The ‘Discovery Zone’ will provide ‘hands-on’ interactive learning for all the family. Meet newly hatched chicks, use hydraulics to make a mini-digger move, discover how bees make honey, explore our vegetable garden and make your own seed strips to take home. There’s also a ‘Make & Bake’ and a crafts area. All the activities in the Discovery Zone are FREE.
Another area not to miss is stand 706, the ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’ stand. The biggest stand on site, will feature a beach area for you to build sandcastles and enjoy some yummy Brymor Ice Cream. They will be joined by Thornton Hall Farm who will be bringing lots of furry friends. You’ll also be able to make your own den with the guys from William’s Den
We can’t wait and with the weather this summer it’s going to be a great day out.
