You could do worse than to read the many comments on this hateful post, Caitlin. That you’re willing to lay your misfire out in public, wishing for the death of anyone, shows a disconnect from what most of us understand to represent humanity.
As much as I disagree with McCain’s positions, I feel that a far more productive use of my time (as opposed to reading your hate filled posts on McCain), would be to send McCain an email with a prayer that he fully recover and come to an understanding that Single Payer is what will elevate the Republicans above the confused, red baiting Democrats.
McCain’s health care “might” save his life. Maybe, just maybe a higher spirit will reach him and urge him to take a position that may save others, rather than side with a party that only wants to further reduce health care to Americans.
Think about the effect that tens of millions of such emails and prayers might do to effect a positive change!
Is it a long shot?
Perhaps.
I’m under no illusions that the message will reach McCain. But sometimes near death experiences have unimagined results.
The Democrats are not absent guilt here… for as Chris Hedges wrote in his June 11, 2010 Truthdig piece: “Single-payer advocates were eventually heard on a few of the House and Senate committees. But the hearings were a charade, part of Washington’s cynical political theater. It was the insurance and pharmaceutical lobbyists who were in charge. They dominated the public debate. They wrote the legislation. They determined who received lavish campaign contributions and who did not. And they won.
“We are talking about life and death, about the difference between living your life and dying,” Redmond said. “And once again it came down to the Democratic Party trumping the needs of the people.”: Obama’s Health Care Plan was drawn up behind closed doors with Big Pharma, and was a trillion dollar giveaway to them.
Alice Walker once told a story about an African tribe called the Babemba. When a tribal member did something unlawful the tribe would gather in a circle around this individual and tell stories about everything good that this person had ever done. http://www.kindspring.org/story/view.php?sid=7535
Once the circle dissolved there would be a celebration and the “castigado” would be welcomed back into the tribe.
And this was a “primitive” tribe.
Please take note as to how many followers you’ve lost as a result of your hate mongering McCain posts. This is no time for ill will towards anyone. Uniting the masses is contingent upon love and not hate.
There’s nothing “Awesome” about the red meat honorable mention in the Daily beast.
I suggest taking some time to think about what you’ve done to your base. Watching a journalist I once respected self destruct because of petty hatred is really disappointing.
