poem for the girl from the club last night

earlier this morning

as part of

my eternal quest

to impress the faceless blob

i call god

i unlatched my ears

and twisted my nose to the off position

so i could

carefully

remove my scalp

and examine my brain

i pressed my eyebrows

to eject my eyes

and twined them around

the back of my head

careful to protect

the pink tendrils

that held them

snaked

to the recesses of my face

then i sat there

for a while

with my empty sockets

watching it all churn

before i collected both eyes

in my left hand

and used my right

to gently fold a corner

in my lizard brain

like a dogeared page

in my favorite book

    a poem every sunday
