the piss corner

insecurity shone bright

that day

as i watched other

full-grown

men

in swishy pants and

scraggly pubic beards

hammering

click jangling

belt loop keys over

teeth

that shook together

in all our heads

as we padded

womp womp

rubber

sticking in shit

and scared

for urethane grip

and paint

and dirt

and mini-history

together with our

arms erect

cocked feet

begging

dutifully

for us

to become

a flitting

intransigent

taste

like light

shining through

the slats in

a clattering train
