So, I could totally be wrong, and please forgive me if I am, but wasn’t the whole point of that segment to highlight the ignorance of those in attendance? It seemed like he was intentionally trying to tell the audience that they were not there because of “perserverance, hard work, or the like”, but instead that they were there because they were given opportunities that others could never have. It was a cringe-worthy moment, to be sure, but he had many of those throughout the night. One of which was calling out Jada and Will.
