Everything you need to know about app distribution

Appaloosa-Store: the welcome kit

Thanks for joining us on Appaloosa-Store. You are now part of thousands of developers, teams and businesses using Appaloosa to test & deploy their apps.

This page is a living document about the resources we gathered to help you get started with the platform.

Supported mobile apps

There are three types of apps you can distribute through Appaloosa:

Native apps are built by your team or contractors. They can be distributed to a group of beta testers before they are published to public app stores. They can also be distributed to your company’s employees to keep them private, outside of public app stores.

Recommended apps are links to public app stores such as the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store. Let’s say your team is already using productivity tools such as Trello or Evernote, it makes it easier to have one place where to find all corporate-sanctionned apps, whether internal or public. Those apps will redirect the users to the public app stores.

Web clips are websites installed as an app on a users device. It’s like bookmarks on your homescreen. This feature is recommended to list public or private mobile-enabled resources such as search engines or CRM.

What’s required to distribute mobile apps privately

iOS: to distribute apps privately, they need to be signed with a valid distribution certificate (.mobileprovision). You need to enroll to the iOS Developer Program or the iOS Enterprise Developer Program.

Android: to distribute apps outside of the Google Play store, devices should have the “Unkown Sources” security setting enabled.
