To the Durau monastery (Romania)
Durau monastery is located in the Ceahlau mountains. The paintings are done by Nicolae Tonitza. At first, this was a monastery for monks, but now there live nuns. There live over 20 human beings who should take care of the church, a shop with religious things and one with cakes, six villas which are part of the Metropolitan, rented for children during the summer.
Every Sunday after the religious service, everyone is invited to lunch, so the nuns are helping with that as well.
The monastery has three hermitages: “Poiana Maicilor”, “Cerebuc” and the one from the Dochia edge.
This spring, during the lock down, the nuns sent food every Saturday to an asylum from the area and to some poor families, lonely old people or other people in need.
The abbess is like a good mother to them, she is responsible with buying all the needed stuff for the nuns, in case they do not already receive them from their families. She is also a good monastery holder, she modernized 3 houses of the monastery, which are also historical monuments.
