Gratitude Diary Day 34/100 — Neighborhood Park

Singapore has many lovely parks and reservoirs that are open to the public for enjoyment with families and friends. Even the housing estates are equipped with quaint little parks complete with basic range of exercise equipment and adventure playground for use by the residents. The park usually has an interesting mix of planting, landscaping and simple architecture to cater for people of all ages.

I start venturing into these parks recently for my morning walks and exercises. Initially it makes me feel weak and exhausted but as I slowly gain momentum and frequency of the regime, I begin to feel free even though it isn’t fast or far — I love the sound of my breath getting expanded and deepened and I love knowing that my body is slowly gaining the capability to relax and perhaps to be better.

I do not have good health and neither do I have the perfect body but I have learned to accept, respect and be comfortable with what I have. Working out is not something I do on a regular basis previously but I see that it can now be one of my favourite ways to spend the mornings or when my body is bothering me physically. It allows me to be present in the moment as I won’t be in the past worrying about the conditions nor in the future wishing things were different. I’m right here and I’m focusing on the breath.

This in itself is an amazing gift.
