A message pop up on my phone screen, asking me to download an app, it was one of my friend who had his first encounter with the social media viral app “sarahah”.

At first Glance it seemed like an any other instant messenger app for connecting to anyone you want to, it didn’t me took long to realize my mistake, it was not what it looked like.

After reading about it on App review website, I found that Sarahah is an anonymous feedback app which lets you give constructive criticism about about anyone who is present on app and given that you have their sarahah address.

The App was developed by Saudi Arabian developer Zain al-Abidin Tawfiq as a website to leave an anonymous review on the workplace, Soon after that he decided to launch this app for mass users, from then it become of the most successful app in recent time.

As the saying goes “give a man mask, and they will show what they truly are”

Sarahah has given people mask, behind which people are free and filled by the power of anonymity. It has given them a platform to to communicate with other on much deeper level by expressing their true feelings, which are not often shown to anyone.

Sarahah doesn’t have all the good things, it has brought negative criticism.
People who have choose to be on the platform, have realized that it is not all good criticism, more often they get bad reviews about themselves which is leading to more depression, which is clearly the opposite of what this app was started for. People have forgotten that even though the app gives them power of anonymity, the person who is getting the reviews is still a “Human”.

In a society where it is easy to get depressed in day to day life, an anonymous message can have devastating impact on someone life. This app was developed for good purpose but used by mass audience for their personal grudges.

All in all, use this app with more cautiously and know that, it is nothing but just an app and your real life is much more important than an “ANONYMOUS MESSAGE”
