This Is Why Your Critiques Of Beyoncé Are Racist
Lara Witt

Beyonce is beautiful beyond words, which is why we need to be able to see these amazing, inspiring and wonderful photos of her being pregnant.

I am a white woman (over 70) raised in a white suburban culture and know nothing about Tarot or shea butter. I’ve had children and had life-threatening miscarriages. What I admire most about Beyonce in those pictures is the life affirming feelings she demonstrates.

I feel very sorry for Becky, Leandra and Rosie, but I also believe you are flattering them to call their writing “think” pieces. I see knee jerk reactions that rise from their own pain or insecurities, and no evidence of rational, analytical thought.

Whiteness is not an incurable disease conferred us at birth. In your use of it, it is an ugly way of feeling and thinking that should no more be ascribed to their ‘whiteness’, than crime should be ascribed to ‘blackness’.

But perhaps you are quoting Marie Clements’ AUNT SHADIE: “White is blindness — it has nothing to do with the colour of your skin.”
