That’s one way of looking at it. Couldn’t it also be that they were worried it would be used as further proof from conservatives that PoC don’t face any systematic discrimination and thus, efforts like BLM and others are unnecessary?

As a former staffer familiar with the current editorial leadership of the magazine, I’m pretty sure the answer to this is no. That’s not a knock on Inc. specifically: it’s just that given the makeup of most editorial staffs, it’s unlikely that any publication is going out of its way to be protective of Black Lives Matter when considering its editorial lineup. And honestly, the same folks who would use that as “proof” would just as easily point to Obama and say the same.
