I’d say figure out what your tipping point is and budget for it, like you’re doing. So if $250 a month for taxis is the last point it’s still financially responsible to not buy a car, then put that in your Mint/budgeting app/whatever and don’t feel guilty until you run over that. A lot of my budgets are designed with the “don’t feel weird until it reaches this point” scale in mind. Money is emotional, yo.
